Hello, I am a long-time Saint Francis Xavier parishioner, having taught religious education, singing in the choir, was married here and baptized, raised and schooled my two daughters Jenna and Maria Vondrasek at SFX as well. Jenna and Maria also attended Fenwick High School. Jenna attended University of San Diego and Maria Michigan State. Both of my daughters are married and live in La Grange. Jenna and her husband recently made me a "Babi" again! So I have granddaughter Drew and now baby Dom to love. Maria and her husband also recently had a baby boy named Thaddeus IV (Theo). It is fun to have 2 boys that are about the same age and Drew calls them "Tito and The Bom"! So cute! I am so happy to be working among some of my former SFX mom friends and I am happy to be home. I grew up in Berwyn and am a graduate of Michigan State University. While at MSU I played trumpet in the Spartan Marching Band marching in several bowl games, the best being the Rose Bowl in 1988. I was also a member and officer of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. I recently ended my second 4-year term as the President of the National American Sokol Organization, and currently reside as World Sokol Federation President headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic. I volunteer and am very involved in the Czech-American Community internationally and locally helping keep Czech culture alive in America. Teaching has become my most recent passion and not by any surprise since my father and his siblings were all educators. My father, Paul Hruby, a former Principal in North Berwyn, is also the founder of youth hockey in the State of Illinois having also taught many youth the great sport. He coached Fenwick Hockey and is now the name on the Paul Hruby Cup, as well as the ice rink in Oak Park, now the Paul Hruby Ice Arena. After many years of experience in the corporate, non-profit, international and start-up world, I chose to go into teaching. I come to you from teaching in the South Berwyn District 100 Middle Schools. I have taught several subjects - Math being one of my specialties, as it was my forte during my education. Currently I am working towards my Masters and look forward to passing on my energy to all of my students. I have an energy and drive to make the learning environment for my students to be an experience they will always remember... along with the work and foundation of the knowledge we instill in them. I also believe in the power of one's will... "You move towards and become, like the images you hold in your mind." #GoGreenGoWhite - #SpartansWill - #SFXFalconsWill |
